Why a hearing test is needed
APD means that hearing is normal, and the difficulty lies in how the brain analyses sounds. That is why hearing loss must be ruled out first - hence the requirement for a current hearing test from an audiometric booth, done no earlier than one month before the visit. This test can be done close to home, so you only need to come to Tczew once.
What to know before your visit
The assessment ends with a written report with recommendations. It does not replace a statement of special educational needs, which is issued only by a public psychological and pedagogical counselling centre. APD symptoms are sometimes confused with ADHD, so if in doubt we suggest further assessment. If therapy is indicated, we consider the Warnke Method or the Tomatis Method.
