Tczew lies on the main railway line and beside the A1 motorway exit. In practice this means the train from Malbork takes about twenty minutes, and the journey from Pelplin is shorter than crossing a larger city at rush hour.
Where to find us
We see patients at ul. Gdańska 8c, above the DOZ pharmacy, a few minutes on foot from the railway station. Those arriving by car can use the free car park on the same street. We are open Monday to Friday, 9:00-18:00, and morning appointments are arranged by telephone, primarily for patients travelling from further afield.

The times given are approximate and measured to the town centre. Each town name leads to a page with full information on assessments for residents of that county.

Direct rail connections
From Pelplin, Pruszcz Gdański, Malbork, Gdańsk, Sopot and Gdynia you can reach Tczew by direct train. The journey from Malbork takes about twenty minutes, from Pelplin fifteen, from Gdańsk Główny thirty to forty. For a child who does not cope well with a long car journey, the train is usually far less tiring.
Towns without a convenient rail link
Gniew and Skarszewy have no operating passenger station, and the journey from Sztum requires a change in Malbork, so in these cases the car is quicker. If you are travelling from these towns, please let us know when arranging the appointment. Wherever the assessment procedure allows, we schedule the interview and the assessment on the same day.
How many visits an assessment involves
The diagnostic process usually comprises three appointments: the parent interview, the assessment and a discussion of the findings. We issue the written report within 21 working days; it can be collected in person or received in another agreed form. We do not make a medical diagnosis. A diagnosis of autism or ADHD is made by a medical specialist, and our report provides the basis for it.
Therapy for patients who travel
Many of our patients travel from 60-100 km away. In such cases we plan therapy differently than for residents of Tczew: less frequently but more intensively, with clearly defined work to be done at home between sessions.
The Tomatis Method is based on a fourteen-day programme with equipment lent for home use, and the next visit to the practice is the programme review. In the Warnke Method part of the exercises is done independently on the Brain Boy device. Psychological consultations are also available online, at PLN 100. In this model two visits a month are usually sufficient.
If a child requires weekly sessions, for example in speech and language therapy, we will say so openly and plan the schedule together. In some cases a combination of intensive therapy blocks with us and ongoing work closer to home proves most effective.
Which counselling centre is competent
This question arises in almost every conversation and often causes uncertainty. Pelplin and Gniew belong to Tczew County, so their residents have their public psychological and pedagogical counselling centre in the same town as our practice. Skarszewy is served by the centre in Starogard, while Sztum and Kwidzyn each fall under their own county. Elbląg and Grudziądz lie in different voivodeships altogether.
The difference is a practical one. We carry out the assessments and issue a written report. A statement of special educational needs is issued solely by the public psychological and pedagogical counselling centre for the place of residence; no private practice, ours included, holds that authority.
